The heating element in this unit was bad too as you can see in this photo of the bread in the element.

This GE dryer, model DWSR483EB1WW, had several issues. You can see the shredded remains of the belt on the floor of the unit. That was due to the idler pulley seizing up and causing the friction of the belt to destroy itself as the drum turned.

In the end the customer decided to replace the unit as repairs would have been too costly.
