I seem to be one of the only appliance tech’s in the area that will work on Samsung appliances. This doesn’t mean I like them, I don’t, but I have had limited luck with repairing them so I’ll keep answering the call to do so. Many Samsung refrigerators have issues with their ice makers. If yours stops working and the ice bucket becomes stuck then most likely you’ve got one of their models with the widespread ice maker issues. Samsung has upgraded their ice maker but in my experience of changing them out there is no guarantee it will resolve the problem although sometimes it does. 

I found this official Samsung service bulletin which is meant to address the ice maker freezing over issue. It includes replacing the ice maker and an upgrade kit, according to Samsung this should resolve the issue. I have been called in to look at several refrigerators that have previously had this upgrade kit installed and the ice makers were still freezing up.
