Diagnosis:

Washer has broken drum spider support and bearings and the dryer requires a new heater assembly and belt rollers and idler pulley.

What are front loader washer spiders made of? All manufacturers seem to use the same material. They all disintegrate into gross clumpy bits! It looks like some sort of cast aluminum. Why would they make them of a material that disintegrates in water?

Repair:

Replaced broken drum spider support and bearings in washer and repair wiring and installed a new heater assembly and belt rollers and idler pulley in dryer.
