This LG LFSX307 refrigerator had taken some abuse. Besides physical damage from someone having moved it I noticed that the compressor had a schrader valve on it which means some technician in the past had broken into the sealed system. Most likely to add refrigerant because it probably had a leak.

Now the unit is not cooling properly but all the fans are running and the compressor is running which inevitably means that the sealed system is once again low on refrigerant, indicating that the previous technician never found or fixed the leak itself. I do not do sealed system work on refrigerators because the time the tools and the ever-changing EPA guidelines make it economically not worthwhile.

Be careful when you buy used refrigerators from dealers, look to see if the compressor compartment has been tampered with as it could indicate that the machine will only last a year or two before it once again stops working.
